ABOUT THERAPY

HOW DO I START THERAPY?

Typically we meet for an initial consultation to determine personal fit and goals, answer questions, and determine a consistent meeting time.

WHAT AREAS DO YOU TREAT?

We treat a wide variety of issues including depression (loneliness, feeling blah, unmotivated, hopeless, tearful), anxiety (worrying a lot about different things), trauma (tension), relationship issues (problems trusting, conflict with family, in-laws, co-workers, finding a partner), shame (never feeling good enough), career (hating your job but feeling stuck, changing careers, job loss) and low self-esteem (lacking confidence in one’s abilities, undeserving of good things).

HOW LONG ARE SESSIONS AND HOW LONG DOES THERAPY LAST?

Sessions are typically 45 minutes for individuals and 60 minutes for couples.
Each person is unique. How long you stay in therapy depends on the scope and complexity of issues addressed and your desire to continue.  The first couple of sessions will help us determine the optimal context as well as the broad concepts of your therapeutic goals.

WHAT ABOUT MEDICATION?

When indicated, medication can be a valuable tool in addition to talk therapy. I am qualified to help determine, with you, if you might benefit from an evaluation by a prescribing practitioner. If so, I have a trusted network of referrals.

Q: SESSION FEES:

  • Individual - $250

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) - $300 - $400

  • Couples/Dyads - $300 (triads/multiple partners are +$50 for each additional partner)

Q: SLIDING SCALE?

If you do not see your insurance company on my panel or you do not think you can afford therapy, call or email me.  Let's see what we can figure out together.  If for some reason we cannot work together, I will work with you to find someone who can.

Q. DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE? WHAT ABOUT OUT-OF-NETWORK COVERAGE?

In-Network

  • Aetna

  • Cigna

  • Healthplus

Out-of-Network

  • We work with many plans that are Out-of-Network. It depends on whether your plan has Out-of-Network coverage. Invoices are provided for insurance reimbursement and I offer complimentary claim insurance filing.

CHECK YOUR BENEFITS WITH YOUR PROVIDER

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

  • Do I have a deductible and if so how much?

  • Do I need a pre-authorization and if so how do I get it?

Cancellation Policy

We require 48hr cancellation notification at no cost. Coming late to the session will still require you to pay for the full session even though the time will not be prolonged. You will be fully responsible to cover the cost of the session that you do not attend without prior 48hr notification.
Note: insurance companies do not provide reimbursement for canceled sessions; fees for late cancellations are the client’s responsibility.
